Kathryn and Matt did the coolest thing as part of their romantic Beech Tree Cottages wedding. Something indicative of the kind of couple they are (I’m stealing this sentiment, as this is what Matt’s dad basically said in his toast).
They combined their last names. They made a totally new name from their existing ones.
This tracks. I remember them telling me during their engagement session how comfortable they felt in each other’s presence. They are home for each other. What better way to signify this than to create a new name together.
Kathryn and Matt’s wedding was such a joy to document. They are lovely humans, which makes my job easy–but what made the day even better was how relaxed it all felt. They took my advice (yay!) and planned extra time before the ceremony, during which they did a private first look. We also had a chance to wander the grounds and take romantic couples’ portraits, which felt laid-back because we weren’t in a hurry. I highly recommend couples build in extra time for portraits for this reason! Not only do we have the chance to get more (and better) photographs, but the energy of the day stays low-key instead of rushed. That comes through in both the photos and in your memories of the day!
Cheers to a quiet and kind couple who make their way through the world as an example for others. It was an honor documenting your love.
And if you’re ever looking for a beautiful, cozy, outdoor venue along the shoreline, make sure to check out Beech Tree Cottages. What a cool spot. Combines the fun vacation / camp feel of a summer lake house with the elegance and staff professionalism of a high-end wedding venue.
