Generally speaking, I’m not the world’s biggest fan of social media. But sometimes it works its magic in mysterious ways, and amazing things come about as a result of Instagram!
I started following Beatriz after seeing some of her gorgeous photos of queer couples on a hashtag I follow, and she (being lovely) started following me back. Not three days later, she messaged me saying she was going to be in New Haven THAT VERY WEEKEND and did I want to trade sessions? She’s a Florida photographer, and New Haven isn’t exactly a popular destination city, especially during a pandemic—what are the odds?
I was SO busy (like, weeping into a pillow, overwhelmed-kind-of-busy), but I couldn’t turn down an opportunity like that! Plus, KC and I have never been professionally photographed outside of our wedding(s), so this was an all-around win.
We met up with Beatriz and Mel at nearby Lake Wintergreen in Hamden and were totally charmed by 1) their general awesomeness and 2) how obsessed they were with the fall colors. (Did I mention they’re from Florida?)
We spent a couple hours trading off being photographer and photographed. It’s always a good reminder of how weird it is to be in front of the lens–thankfully Beatriz is awesome at her job, and made us feel right at home. I’ll post some pics of KC and me when they’re ready…in the meantime, hope you enjoy these two gorgeous humans and all the FALL FOLIAGE!!
