There is something of Kennedy-era Camelot in this couple. A certain elegance, a certain class. Their aesthetic, on Yale’s elite campus, came together to create a beautiful contemporary-with-a-nostalgic-twist engagement shoot.
But don’t let looks deceive you. Leah and Colin might look the part, but in person they are totally easy-going, funny, and a joy to be with. I felt at home with them immediately. (This might have something to do with the fact that they, like me, have Midwestern roots.)
We met at the Yale School of Music building, where Leah has been studying the past few years, and roamed rather aimlessly around campus on this brisk autumn afternoon. Leah is also a fashion blogger (she runs a successful Instagram account with her twin sister) and so, of course, her clothing was on point: she knows exactly how to dress her body. Check out their photos to see why I always recommend couples dress up a little. It really elevates the photographs!
These two were smitten kittens with each other. It was pretty adorable. And while they were a little shy about publicly demonstrating their love, they were amazing sports. (Fun fact: right as they were about to smooch against that wall up there, we heard their names being shouted—they had not one, but two, separate friends walking up the street towards us in the kind of random encounter you have to expect on any campus.)
When we finished at Yale, we made our way to one of the nearby beaches and took advantage of the setting sun and and outfit change to get a totally different set of images. I WISH I could be at their Michigan wedding next year, but I have know doubt it will be amazing and that they will have a happy life together. What sweethearts. Thank you both!
