When Rhea and Liz first told me they were having a dinosaur-themed wedding, I thought it sounded cool and fun, but I’ll be honest: the words ‘chic’ and ‘beautiful’ didn’t initially register in my mind. Imagine my surprise, then, when I arrived at the Madison Children’s Museum to discover a myriad of guests dressed elegantly in more dinosaur-themed get-ups than I thought possible! From full printed suits and dresses to stunning Mesozoic accessories, people brought their stylistic A-game in a way that was a far cry from the kitschy dinosaur-themed birthday parties of my youth. I’ve yet to see a more well-dressed ensemble of humans, and in ways that continued to make me smile all night at their creativity.
Rhea and Liz are a very special couple, and their wedding personified the unique gifts they provide the world. Art, imagination, activism, and community were the threads that wove throughout their event, bringing people together and inviting everyone to participate in their own way with beautiful, custom-made coloring-and-activity books. (Again–ignore any impulse to think that these were cutesy. They were stunning works of art, and they managed to get everyone involved and excited.)
Their infectious joie-de-vivre permeated the wonderland of the museum that night, making this wedding a true delight for all of us there. Most of all, I was grateful to witness two people whose love for each other matches their love for their community; whose respect and admiration for each other extends outward, enveloping everyone lucky enough to find themselves in their orbit. This was such a joyful wedding, and (this goes without saying once you see the photos) SO much fun to document.
Plus–you must check out their cake. COOLEST CAKE OF ALL TIME.
Thanks, Rhea and Liz. I cannot express what an honor it was to be there with you for your wedding!!!
