I was excited to meet Pooja and Jerry just based off of our initial phone conversation. You know how you can get a read on a couple within the first few minutes of hearing them interact with each other? Pooja and Jerry’s interactions immediately made me smile–they were sweet with each other, a little goofy, and totally in sync. In other words, they were on the exact same wavelength. Hearing two people in love who are comfortable with each other while simultaneously so obviously excited about their future makes me smile: it’s the holy grail of coupledom!
We planned to meet at my place–I was going to do Pooja’s hair and makeup before the session–and I expected Jerry to want to sit in the other room and watch TV. Instead, he sat at the dining room table with us, and I got to know them both a bit and hear their adorable “how we met” story (it involves Jerry SERIOUSLY putting himself out there after admitting to falling in love at first sight). They were warm, easy to talk to, and I immediately felt like I was hanging out with friends.
Our shoot was on a beautiful fall day in Edgerton Park in New Haven. They were so natural with each other that getting gorgeous, loving shots was easy. To spice things up, however, Pooja and Jerry wanted to add a bit of Halloween gothic/horror to their shoot, and Jerry brought a creepy Michael mask to incorporate into some of the photos. Pooja was totally on-board. We had the perfect weather and the perfect location for making their vision come to life.
Thank you, Pooja and Jerry–you two are so awesome, and I can’t wait for your future adventures!
