When Mel (she/hers) and Elwood (he/his) told me they wanted a ‘queer fairy woodland’ feel for their engagement session, I was ALL. IN. I was also all in after hearing about their story as a couple, and about the magical wedding they were planning. They chose a location I hadn’t been to yet—Poet’s Seat Tower in Massachusetts—for their engagement shoot, which turned out to be the perfect spot.
These two get each other. Communication is absolutely fundamental to their relationship. They’ve been through some stuff, both individually and together, and have come out on the other side with clear understandings of what they want, what’s important to them, and how to keep their relationship strong. For such a young couple, they are crushing it in terms of knowing their boundaries and treating themselves and each other with empathy and respect. Watching them communicate made me smile—they have got this figured out.
We had a gorgeous early evening at a beautiful place, and they arrived wearing the MOST adorable floral crowns. Mel glowed in her blue dress, and Elwood looked so handsome in his suspenders (have I mentioned here how much I love suspenders? I seriously love them.)
We made the most of the awesome hilltop location, starting and ending on the tower itself, which gave us the most splendid views of Greenfield. I loved watching them be sweet with each other and loved watching them interpret my silly prompts to make them their own. I am so excited for Mel and Elwood’s future together—I can’t wait to see what these two are up to in five, ten, thirty years.
