I met up with Kate and Ray for their engagement session at Maltby Lakes in beautiful West Haven, Connecticut, on a morning with questionable weather. It had been raining all night and into the morning, pushing our meet-up time back from our scheduled 7:30 AM to 9:30 AM (a huge relief, I might add, for a non-morning person).
We dodged raindrops and bolted for the car at the very end, when the sky chose to open up above us. Despite less than perfect weather conditions, this shoot was SO much fun. Kate and Ray are so sweet and natural with each other, with just enough sass to ensure some belly laughs along the way. And the results could not have been better. Those dull, overcast skies allowed Connecticut’s beautiful fall foliage to pop, and that flat lighting is so much more flattering and intimate than harsh sunlight. I’ll take cloudy days whenever I can get them, and I’ll take a couple like Kate and Ray any day of the week!
