Kim and Ryan’s Mediterranean inspired Greenwich golden hour engagement session set a new precedent for residential shoots. The couple just so happened to have access to one of the most extravagant homes in Connecticut! (A friend of the family owns the home.)
The home was gorgeously landscaped, the sun was low and glowing like a fireball in the sky, and the infinity pool glowed in the same jewel-toned blues and teals of the Long Island Sound beyond it. Kim was wearing a fabulous, flowy pink and peach toned dress. When I complimented it (it was MADE to be photographed), she laughed and said she got it from Rent the Runway. I felt like I had stepped into a magazine–or into a Mediterranean seaside villa!
It’s pretty easy to take pictures of attractive people in pretty lighting in a gorgeous place, let’s be honest. But something much more true than those surface beauties made itself clear in Kim and Ryan’s session. Their bond is deep and sure. It’s tender and humorous. Their kind, quiet ways with each other coupled with their outbursts of self-conscious laughter made me feel right at home with them. And it made documenting their love much more interesting (and special) than simply photographing models at a mansion (which I know, it kind of looks like I was doing.)
You should check out their epic wedding later in the season here. It did not disappoint.
