Casey and Alec’s summer wedding at Holcomb Farm in Connecticut was…just…so…good. This was the last wedding I photographed while pregnant. I may have been primed for getting a bit emotional. But that, I know in my heart, is just an excuse.
These two made me cry (in a good way) on MULTIPLE occasions well before their wedding with their generosity of spirit and open-heartedness. We forged an unforgettable bond during their engagement session when I locked my keys in my car and they stayed with me as it got dark, waiting for the cops to let me in.
Over the next year, we chatted several times about planning things. When I realized my due date would be right after their wedding, we discussed potential backup plans if I was unable to be there. Thankfully, my baby girl decided to come late, so I didn’t miss this very special wedding.
In addition to our multiple zooms and phone calls that left me weepy, they CALLED ME OUT (in the most beautiful way possible) in their VOWS during the ceremony. Something I had said during one of our meetings had had an impact on Casey. The fact that I made any impact at all on these humans, their wedding, or their relationship is the most profound kind of compliment. Truly, it was a humbling moment.
I know I’m always going on and on about my clients, so much so that it might come off as my schtick or some kind of business ploy. But the reality is (and anyone who knows me well, knows this is true): I have to pinch myself continuously to believe my luck in who the universe sends my way. I know, pragmatically, that it’s likely a combination of experience, marketing, and good old fashioned luck, but truly: this business seems touched by magic for the kinds of people it’s brought my way. I will always remember your wedding, Casey and Alec, and I will always be so grateful for our connection. Best of luck to two amazing people. Thank you, once again, for allowing me the privilege to document it.
