I was SO excited to meet Asia and Chris after our initial phone call. I talked to Asia first, and she was super sweet and a little on the quiet side (a shout-out to my fellow introverts!). She told me how she and Chris had gotten together (a very cute story) and that they had a young daughter together and were planning to get married in the next couple of years. Then Chris got on the phone, and was so engaging and interested in photography that we started really geeking out about photographs and the role they play in our lives. We must have all talked for an hour. We were on the exact same wavelength about the kinds of photos that matter and how to get them.
We met at a very cool Connecticut state park for their engagement shoot. Chris was familiar with the place and led us through darkened trails towards the stream and waterfalls that were our destination. I kept stopping them along the way—the place was nothing but awesome photo spots. They were in amazing spirits, SO cute together, and up for anything. Chris was chivalrous and always making sure Asia (hiking in very UN-hiking shoes) had a hand when she needed it. You can see exactly who they are together in these photos. Young, in love, but also responsible, hard-working parents…a really beautiful combination of traits. And at the end, they got in the freaking water and I got to shoot a whole series of romantic waterfall engagement photos!
