Michelle and Dan’s Edgerton Park Fall engagement session wasn’t just about them. They were excited to include their daughter and their dog, and boy did we have an adventure. It was hilarious, sweet, romantic, and silly, and to top it off we got PEAK color. (It really didn’t hurt that they came perfectly coordinated for an autumn photo shoot. Michelle’s orange dress and Dan’s purple sweater popped against the blazing foliage of Edgerton Park.)
What makes this couple special is their down-to-earth, almost snarky way of communicating with each other that’s somehow always tender. They’ll shit-talk and rib each other, and Dan will grumble about this or that, but then they’ll share a knowing smile and I’ll realize this is just their love language. They’re sweet without being saccharine. They have a family already. They’ve lived a life together. This is not a new couple with romantic ideals of what marriage means. Instead, Michelle and Dan know exactly what it takes to make a serious relationship work. They’re choosing to dive into marriage anyway.
Michelle, by the way, has this classy, understated calm that is both dry and warm at the same time. I liked her from our first conversation, and each time I chatted with her, the feeling grew. This is a sweet, hard-working family, and I can’t wait for their wedding.
