Some people go out of their way to try to make me feel comfortable, even though it’s my job to do that for clients! Alyssa and Sean were this way, right off the bat. Eager not to make my life difficult, they communicated so well leading up to their session, were generous with their sharing on the phone and in email, and were excited but a bit anxious about their shoot (which is totally normal!). We decided to shoot near their home in Windsor, Connecticut. It was a beautiful location for a Fall engagement shoot: bright red barn, pond, stone walls and long white fences…and we had crisp autumn weather and gray skies to set off the color.
Like pretty much everyone who isn’t a professional model, Alyssa and Sean had some trepidation about being in front of the camera. What impressed me was how open to the process they were, despite their anxieties. They totally played along and humored me, and within ten minutes the stage fright had melted away. It was clear how much at home they are beside each other, and how special Sean makes Alyssa feel.
They’re also fun and light-hearted. They remind me of people I grew up with: no pretenses. No arrogance. Kind, interested in other people, and excited about their future together.
I’m excited to meet the kinds of people they surround themselves with, and I’ll have the chance to do that at their upcoming wedding!
