These two are adorable, and after having to reschedule once due to rain, we were smiled on by the photography gods and were gifted THE most gorgeous summer sky I’ve seen in a long time. It did not hurt that we were in stunning Harkness Park, complete with bobbing purple wildflowers, old craggy trees, and an unobstructed view of the Long Island Sound, all bathed in golden and pink light. It was a scene to behold.
I love Jackie and Brendan’s story. It’s a twist on the old high school sweethearts tale. They did know each other in high school, and as it turns out, Brendan had a bit of a thing for Jackie even back then—but she was oblivious, and they never dated. Cut to years later, when they reconnected and Jackie realized what had been right in front of her all those years ago! There is something of a high school excitement that exists between these two; it was infectious, and I had so much fun romping around with them through the gorgeous flowers and grasses.
Sometimes in male/female relationships, the guy is sort of humoring his partner throughout this whole engagement session process. (I think women are socialized to care about record keeping / photography more, but that’s a topic for a different day.) In this case, however, Brendan was totally on board. These photos are important to him, too, and he seemed to genuinely enjoy spending time with Jackie that was one hundred percent about celebrating their relationship. They were both excited to document their love—which made my job easy!
I am thrilled I get to be with Jackie and Brendan on their wedding, and can’t wait to meet the people who surround these two lovely humans.
